The artwork is inspired by the Kalevala, the famous Finnish epos: “Pyhät on pihlajat pihalla, pyhät oksat pihlajissa, pyhät lehvät oksasilla, marjaset sitäi pyhemmät..” (Kalevala, Kolmaskolmatta runo) The artwork is inspired also by the values of the Karelia University of Applied Sciences (Karelia Ammattikorkekoulu). The artwork started as an watercolour painting, then it was scanned and digitally edited and finally, it was printed on canvas.
